You'll find that EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) is an excellent insulating material when you use it in a molded shipping box. It is also one of the better insulators for bulk shippers.
EFP Corporation developed molded EPS shippers for use with payloads over two cubic feet as well as to cube out pallets or air freight containers. These bulk shippers are part of our PharmaTuff® line. We manufacture them under the same high standards as our smaller payload shippers.
EFP and TCP also provide pallet shippers that are tested for 2°-8°C transport of pharmaceuticals. These products are constructed using a variety of insulating materials.
- The most commonly used material is EPS. Features and densities that are simple to configure make EPS easy to manufacture and economical to use.
- PUR (Polyurethane), the next grade up, has better insulating properties per inch than EPS. More, PUR can be machined for complex geometries. Yet, it is still lightweight and very durable.
- PIR (Polyisocyanurate) is at the top of the list for R-Value and lightweight. It can be constructed using metalized panels.
These pallet shippers come in standard sizes, but their simple structure allows for design flexibility. Custom sizes are available, as are application specific systems complete with refrigerants, packaging instructions, monitoring, and qualification to your transit profile.
