Cold Chain Packaging - Gel PacksGel packs are the most common refrigerant used for temperature sensitive packaging systems. Available in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, our gel packs are both versatile and economical. Gel materials can be frozen or refrigerated, depending upon your needs.

The basic phase change materials, Gel packs are used in pharmaceutical applications for traditional 2°-8°C applications. Yet, they also provide excellent freeze protection. In many validated packaging systems, the gel pack is the primary refrigerant, used along with specific temperature range phase change material to provide the ultimate in temperature control.

Use gel size, weight, and compound as off-the-shelf combinations or custom built to meet your specific applications. EFP and our cold chain partner TCP, offer plenty of choices in the Cryopak® line:

  • Economical Gels Packs: Low cost gels that meet most applications.
  • Structured Gel Packs: Gel compound developed to be leak proof for applications where containing spills is essential.
  • Gel Bricks: Gel compound packaged with a foam brick for shape retention when thawed.
  • Gel Bottles: Gel compound in hard shell blow molded bottles.
  • Gel Blankets: Gels in flexible blankets with standard cell sizes for covering bulk containers or wrapping products for extended refrigerated or freeze protection.
